Air pollution increases before Diwali, Grap-1 implemented in Delhi NCR

Just about a week before Diwali, big news is coming out from Delhi NCR. Due to increasing air pollution here, the first phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) has been implemented from Tuesday. The first phase of GRAP is implemented when Delhi’s AQI level is recorded between 201 and 300. According to media reports, Delhi’s air quality index i.e. AQI was recorded at 211 on Tuesday. In such a situation, Grape 1 has been implemented. With its implementation, a complete ban has been imposed on the use of coal and wood in hotels and restaurants. Apart from this, strict monitoring will be maintained on the operation of old petrol and diesel vehicles i.e. BS III petrol and BS IV diesel vehicles. Appropriate measures for dust mitigation measures and sound management of waste have to be taken for construction and demolition activities.

There will be a ban on such projects
C&D activities are not permitted on projects with plot size equal to or more than 500 square meters in Delhi NCR. Apart from this, there will be a ban on illegally throwing waste in the open.

These steps will be taken
Many important tasks will be taken to reduce air pollution. In this regard, the roads will be machine cleaned and water sprayed from time to time. C&D material and waste will be appropriately covered within the premises. There will be strict monitoring of PUC norms for vehicles. Apart from this, diesel-powered generator sets have also been banned.
