Karnataka: A sensational incident of murder has come to light in Belgaum district of Karnataka, where a constable husband brutally strangled his wife to death. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot, took possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem. Besides, the search for the accused husband who is absconding has been intensified. There is an atmosphere of panic in the area due to the incident. The police came to know about the murder of the woman due to the foul smell coming from the house.
Constable husband Santosh Kamble murdered his wife by slitting her throat in Savadatti town of Belgaum district. The deceased has been identified as Kashamma Neligani (34), who was working as a bus conductor in KSRTC. Santosh and Kashamma had a love marriage 13 years ago. Everything went well for some time after marriage, but due to Santosh’s suspicion on Kashamma, cracks started appearing in their relationship.
‘Santosh used to abuse over phone’
Troubled by her husband’s physical and mental abuse, Kashamma left her husband and started living at her maternal home. Meanwhile, she was transferred to Savadatti and she started living in a rented house in that area. Due to continuous discord in marital life, Kashamma had filed for divorce in Bailhongal Court. They officially divorced on 5 April 2025. His family told that even after the divorce, Santosh kept calling Kashamma and abusing her.
Husband kills wife by slitting her throat
On October 13 at 8 pm, Santosh went to Kashamma’s house and started creating ruckus. In anger he slit Kashamma’s throat. He was also stabbed three times in the stomach, due to which he died in agony. After three days, neighbors informed the police when foul smell started coming from the house. Tisavadatti police reached the spot, registered the case and started investigation. Police is conducting a search operation in search of absconding accused Santosh Kamble.
