Dulal linked to Pakistani network arrested, 250 fake passports busted

ED has taken major action in Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal. The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Indubhushan Haldar alias Dulal. This arrest has been made in the case of Pakistan citizen Azad Hussain alias Azad Malik alias Ahmed Hussain Azad. Haldar was produced in Kolkata’s Bichar Bhawan Special Court, from where ED has been granted 5-day custody so that further investigation can be done.

The ED investigation was initiated by an FIR lodged by the West Bengal Police under sections 14 and 14A of the Foreigners Act, 1946. Investigation revealed that Azad Hussain, who is actually a citizen of Pakistan. ED said that the accused was living in India on fake identity in the name of Azad Malik. He was involved in getting Indian identity cards made for illegal immigrants from Bangladesh by taking money.

Azad Hussain arrested on 15 April 2025
ED said that Azad Hussain was arrested on 15 April 2025 and he is currently in judicial custody. Further investigation revealed that he had contacted Indubhushan Haldar to get Indian passports for many Bangladeshi citizens. Indubhushan Haldar is a resident of Chakdah in Nadia district and is an important member of this entire racket.

250 fake passports, petition filed in High Court to save them
ED said that Indubhushan Haldar did the work of preparing fake documents and applying for passport, in return for which he used to take a huge amount. So far, ED’s investigation has revealed about 250 fake passport cases, in which Haldar has had a direct role. Haldar had first filed a petition for Anticipatory Bail in the Special PMLA Court of Kolkata and then in the High Court, but his petition was rejected from both the places.

ED is busy identifying other people associated with the network
Earlier, ED had filed a prosecution complaint under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) against Azad Hussain alias Azad Malik on June 13, 2025, of which the court took cognizance on June 19, 2025. ED has said that further investigation is going on to identify more people associated with this entire network. It is believed that more arrests may be made in this case.
