The news of his death was confirmed by his co-star Firoz Khan, who played Arjun in ‘Mahabharat’, on social media.
Paying tribute on Instagram, he wrote, “A gentleman has said goodbye to the world. You will be missed dear friend Pankaj Dheer.” According to media reports, Pankaj Dheer died on October 15 at 11:30 am. It is being told that he was undergoing treatment for cancer for a long time, due to which he died. He had won the battle with it, but a few months ago it spread again. During this period he also had a major surgery. The industry and fans are in deep mourning due to the demise of Pankaj Dheer. It is being told that his last rites will be performed at 4:30 pm at Vile Parle crematorium in Mumbai.
Pankaj Dheer is known for his role of Karna in the TV serial ‘Mahabharat’ and his other roles in ‘Chandrakanta’, ‘The Great Maratha’, ‘Yug’ and ‘Badho Bahu’. He acted in small roles in several Hindi films, including ‘Sadak’, ‘Soldier’ and ‘Baadshah’. While ‘Mahabharata’ made him a household name, supporting roles in films made his presence felt in Bollywood. His demise has caused a great loss to the film industry.
Pankaj Dheer’s son Nikitin Dheer is also an actor like his father. He is known for his roles in films like ‘Jodha Akbar’ and ‘Chennai Express’. In 2006, Pankaj Dhir, along with his brother Satluj Dhir, established ‘Visage Studios’, a modern shooting studio in the Jogeshwari area of Mumbai, which became a popular location for film and TV production. In 2010, he also opened an acting academy in Mumbai, where famous actor Gufi Paintal was made the head, to train new actors.
