A major accident took place in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra on Saturday, Dhanteras. Eight people died and eight others were injured when a vehicle went out of control and overturned in the valley at Chandsaili Ghat.
Giving this information, the police said that the condition of some of the seriously injured people is said to be critical.
It is being told that the accident happened when a pickup van filled with devotees returning from the holy Astamba Yatra lost control and overturned at the turn of Chandsaili Ghat. The driver lost control of the vehicle on the sharp and narrow path of the ghat, due to which the accident occurred.
As soon as information about the accident was received, police and administration teams reached the spot and started rescue operations. According to eyewitnesses, when the pickup van overturned, the rear part of the vehicle fell on the road, due to which many passengers got buried under it. The injured were immediately admitted to Taloda Sub-District Hospital, where their condition remains critical. The accident has sent a wave of grief across the entire Nandurbar district. Police are trying to find out the reasons for the accident.
Later speaking to the media, MLA Rajesh Padvi said, “An unfortunate incident has taken place at Chandsaili Ghat in Nandurbar. The vehicle of devotees returning after visiting Astamba Rishi Dev met with an accident. Many people have died in this accident. The injured have been sent to Taloda Upazila Hospital and some to Nandurbar District Hospital. Relief work is going on for the injured.”
Preliminary information has been received that about 40 people were traveling in a pickup truck. He said that assistance will be provided to the injured and the families of the deceased. After the post-mortem, we are making arrangements to deliver the dead bodies to the homes of all concerned.
